Business & Biodiversity Platforms (BBP) have been established in several countries of Asia Region – India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam.
Under MFF programme, IUCN convened a roundtable of private sector companies on 20 April 2017 at Karachi to share the idea. The participating companies overwhelmingly supported the idea.
A follow-up meeting was organised at PQA on 23 October 2017 to share the initial platform concept.
An exposure visit was organised to Sri Lanka from 25-28 October, 2017 to learn from Biodiversity Sri Lanka experience.
The Chairman PQA also endorsed idea during a debriefing meeting held with him on 31 October 2017.
The vision is to have Private sector engaged in playing an active role in the national agenda for sustainable development and nature conservation
To provide a national forum to:
- share ideas,
- raise awareness, and
- help the business sector take ownership and support in addressing environmental and sustainable development issues in Pakistan through collective actions and dialogues at local and national levels.
